How is Handwriting Analyzed? - By Mrs. Neha Phatak Rakshas

Your handwriting can tell a lot about your personality and outlook on life. Graphologists are seen to argue that handwriting analysis can tell you much. During our school days, all of us might have been taught to write our letters in a certain way. But we tend to deviate from it as we grow older. Through graphology it can be explained how such deviations could be the expression of certain personality traits. Find out what characteristics to look at and what graphology will tell you those characteristics mean.

Shape of Letter

How round your letters are will show your openness. If your writing has more loops and open circles, you are very open and relaxed. If you write with straight lines instead of many loops then you are tenser.

  • If you write with rounded letters then it will signify that you are more creative and artistic but pointy letters will make it clear that you are aggressive and rational.
  • If you write with more rounded letters then you are less stressed and if you write with sharp angles and strong lines then you are more stressed.

Position and Shape of i-dots

Graphologists tell how visionary a person is with the location of the i-dot. Usually the further away from the stem, you dot your i’s, the more imaginative and creative you are considered. It makes sense if you keep in mind that the top of the page represents goals and dreams. An i-dot that is closer to the stem indicates that the writer is very organized and is attentive about the details.

  • If the dot is more like a slash instead of a dot, it may mean that you were writing fast or you are very rushed and impatient generally.
  • If the dot is a round open bubble then you have a childlike curiosity regarding the world and you are very creative and bubbly.

Position And Shape of T-bars

It indicates the self-esteem of a writer. If you cross your lowercase T’s high on the stem, you have high self-esteem. If you cross it very low, it indicates that you fear failure and are not open to change.

  • If you T-bars constantly crossed in the middle, only above the tops of the other lowercase letters, it indicates that you are a practical and successful individual.
  • If you are a dreamer then your T’s completely off the stem. Your aims may not be grounded in reality and you may be having fancy urges.

Size And Proportion of Letters

The size of your letters indicates how you fit in with your environment. Graphologists divide a line writing into three zones such as the upper, middle and lower. To have a look at someone;s writing size, mainly focus on the middle zone, where most of the lower case letters are positioned. If you write relatively large letters, it may show that you demand attention, whereas if you write smaller letters then you are modest and reserved.

  • Small handwriting may too indicate you have strong concentration and focus and you prefer working on one thing at a time instead of multi-tasking.

Letter Slant

Your emotional direction is indicated by the slant of your letters. If the letters angle back to the left, then you are defensive and fearful of your future. If your letters angle forward to the right, then you are very intense, impulsive and expressive. If you write your letters straight up and down then you value rationality over emotion and be completely independent.

  • How much your letters are slanted will give a cue into how far in that direction you lean. So for example an extreme right slant may indicate a full lack of self-control.

Letter Spacing

It shows the need for personal space for a writer. If you write with a lot of space between every letter then you require a lot of personal space. If your letters are closer together or overlap, it signifies you like to be around people and like giving your time to others.

  • If your letters are close together then you may also face a challenging time giving time to yourself.

Word Spacing

If you give space between your words then it relates to how sociable you are. If you leave a wider space between your words, then you usually are very introverted. If you write your words close together then you are outgoing and extroverted.

  • A narrow spacing between words indicates that you have a tendency to poke into other people’s personal life or ask intruding questions.

Line Spacing

The way you space lines actually indicates how you react in your relationships. If you leave wide, even spaces between your lines then you have clear, organized thinking and a proper sense of boundaries. If you leave narrow spacing between lines then letters will overlap and it shows that you may be overly familiar with others and face challenges with personal boundaries.

  • If you leave narrow-based lines then it indicates that you have a tendency towards knee-jerk reaction.
  • If you leave wide-spaced lines you are more likely to hold back until you cool off.

Baseline Slope

Get an insight into the outlook of a writer’s life from the slope of the lines. An individual is generally optimistic if his writing slopes upward from the left. But if your writing slopes downward then you are pessimistic. You are a very balanced person if your writing is generally level.

  • It is an indicator of the mood of an individual while they write instead of their overall personality.
  • If you wish to analyze the overall personality of an individual, have many different samples from different times and days.

Pen Pressure

This tells how much physical and emotional energy you exert. If you write with heavy pen pressure then you have intense emotions and strong vitality. If you write with a very light pen pressure then you are highly passive or sedentary and you will likely avoid confrontation. Most individuals write with medium pressure and thus indicates more of a balance.

  • If you write with heavy pressure you will also write very slowly. But if you write with light pressure then you often write very fast.

Margins

The space one uses to write actually corresponds to their orientation in time. If you write far to the left, it indicates that you stay rooted in the past. If you write all the way to the right edge it tells that you are eager to try new things. If you write close to the page top it means that you are not able to overcome some of your past events and if you write all the way to the bottom it tells you are grounded and also practical.

  • A few graphologists explain that the writing of an individual who leaves no margins completely implies that the person is a workaholic.
  • If you leave very even margin around every side of your wiring then you are a balanced and self-disciplined person.
